The Feed
Once you're signed in, the front page is a feed. It's the first thing you see,
and for a long time it was the only part of the app nothing here described.
What lands in it
Nothing, unless somebody chooses to put it there. There is no automatic
posting: adding a card, building a deck, or scanning a stack publishes nothing.
The feed fills up only when you or a friend deliberately shares something.
That's the whole design. A collection is a private thing with money attached,
and a feed that broadcast every purchase would make people play with the app
less, not more.
Publishing
Wherever something can be shared there's a Share button: on a deck, on your
collection, on your tradelist and wishlist. Pressing it writes one post. The
post carries a link and a picture, not the contents, so what people see is
whatever that page already shows a visitor.
A post respects the same visibility rules as the page it points at. Share a
deck and then make it private, and the post stops appearing. Nothing you have
not made public can arrive in somebody's feed by way of a share.
Friends and Global
Two tabs. Friends is posts from people you have added. Global is
everyone's public posts, which is where to look when you want to see what other
people are building rather than only your own circle.
Blocking somebody removes them from both, in both directions.
Reactions and comments
Under every post there are four reactions: 🔥 👍 😂 🤔. Press one to add it and
press it again to take it back. You can use more than one on the same post, but
each only once, so the numbers are people, not button-mashing.
Comment opens the conversation under a post. You can edit or delete your own
comments, and on your own posts you can remove anybody's, because it's your
post. If a comment crosses a line, the flag next to it sends it to us to look
at.
Only people who can see a post can react or comment, and that follows the post:
make the deck private and its comments go with it. Somebody you've blocked
can't react to or comment on your posts, and you won't see their comments on
anybody else's.
When someone reacts or comments on something you shared, you get a
notification, and a few people at once arrive as one ("Ana and 3 others
reacted"), not a stack of them. Trying out all four reactions only tells you
once. Clicking the notification takes you to that post with its comments open,
even if it's too old to still be in your feed.
If it's empty
An empty feed means nobody has shared anything yet, not that something is
broken. The empty feed lists what you can share and where its Share button
lives, and the quickest way to see it work is to share one of your own decks.
"Share this?"
Now and then a small card in the corner asks whether you'd like to share
something: when an edit makes a deck complete and legal, when a Pro Analysis
finishes, and after you've approved 25 cards in one scanning session. It opens
the same Share options as the button, and that's all it does. It never shares
anything on its own, it asks once about each deck or batch, and it only asks
when sharing would actually work: you're set up for social, the deck or
collection is already public, and it isn't in the feed yet. Close it and that's
the end of it.
